Reconnecting at the Estancia

Modern life keeps us busy, but rarely gives us the space to slow down, reconnect and be truly present with the people around us. At the estancia, life naturally moves at a different rhythm. Days are shaped by the weather, the animals, the ocean and the landscape, with more time spent outside, around the fire, at the table together or simply walking through nature without rushing anywhere.

Stargazing

When the sun sets, another side of Southern Patagonia begins to reveal itself. Far away from towns and city lights, Las Loicas enjoys exceptionally dark skies with almost no light pollution, creating perfect conditions for stargazing. Many guests tell us they have never experienced a night sky quite like this before. On clear evenings, the stars seem to stretch endlessly across the Patagonian sky.

Tierra del Fuego where nature still leads

Tierra del Fuego is Argentina’s southernmost province, the far edge of Patagonia and the gateway to Antarctica. Separated from the South American mainland by the Strait of Magellan, the island is shared between Argentina and Chile and still feels incredibly remote in many places. Vast landscapes, dramatic weather and a strong sense of wilderness define this unique corner of the world.

Captain’s Cabin

The Captain’s Cabin is inspired by the atmosphere of a traditional ship’s cabin. Everything is designed within one open space, much like aboard a ship, where every corner has its purpose. With one double bed and two single beds, the cabin is suitable for couples, families or small groups of up to four guests.

The cabin has a private kitchen, a spacious bathroom and its own entrance. Books, photographs and maritime details add character and create a warm, personal atmosphere.

El Nido

El Nido is a spacious and private cabin for up to six guests. It has two separate bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, a double bed and a single bed, making it ideal for families or small groups travelling together.

The cabin also has a generous open-plan living area with a fully equipped kitchen. Set in a quiet part of the estancia, close to the river and surrounded by nature, El Nido offers plenty of privacy and beautiful views across the landscape.

Guestroom

For guests who prefer a more personal estancia experience, we also offer a guestroom inside our main house. Staying here means sharing more of the daily rhythm of Las Loicas — breakfasts, conversations and evenings around the fire.

The room has two beds and is simple and comfortable, ideal for travellers who enjoy a more informal atmosphere and the chance to connect with their hosts and experience life at the estancia from a little closer.

Adventure forest


More than 85% of Estancia Las Loicas is covered by native forest, making it an essential part of the landscape and the estancia itself. Most of the forest consists of ñire trees, while some areas are home to impressive lenga trees, many of them more than a century old.

Our forest remains wild and untamed, with no manicured paths or cultivated landscape. As you walk through it, you will notice barba de viejo hanging from the branches. This lichen only thrives where the air is exceptionally clean, making it a natural indicator of the purity of this remote environment.

Faro Cabo San Pablo

Close to our farm you can find the historic Faro Cabo San Pablo, one of the most iconic landmarks of this remote part of Tierra del Fuego.

If you are up for it, you can take a beautiful walk along the shoreline to the lighthouse. The Atlantic Ocean, strong winds and wide empty beaches create a feeling of space and isolation that is hard to describe. Along the way, you may spot guanacos and seabirds, as well as the old Desdémona shipwreck resting on the beach below. Built in the 1940s to guide ships through these difficult waters, the lighthouse stands on a hill overlooking the ocean, surrounding estancias, the beach and our own property.

Visiting the Desdémona

Right in front of Las Loicas lies the Desdémona, one of the most iconic shipwrecks of Tierra del Fuego. The old cargo ship ran aground in 1985 after suffering technical problems while navigating these difficult waters.

From our house, you can still see her masts rising above the shore. What exactly happened near Cabo San Pablo remains part of local legend, with stories ranging from a captain deliberately beaching the ship to save his crew to other, more mysterious versions of events. Over time, the Desdémona has slowly become part of the landscape — and a small piece of local history.
